RIDING - (mileage is approximate, see map for more route details.  This route is subject to change and is a suggested route for the event)

Day 1 (Friday 10/9) - Bayside Park near Chula Vista Marina to Sweetwater Summit - 10 miles
We'll get started Friday after work about 5:30pm and will ride along the Bayshore Bikeway as it connects with the Sweetwater Bikeway along the Sweetwater River.  Ride through Bonita and finish at the Sweetwater Summit Regional Park overlooking the Sweetwater Reservoir with a great dinner to start your weekend off right!

Day 2 (Saturday 10/10) - Sweetwater Summit to Dos Picos - 43 miles
Day 2 will be the longest and most physically challenging day, but we know you're up for it!  Leaving the Sweetwater Summit Park, you'll travel through parts of East County San Diego on your way to Wildcat Canyon.  This is where the tough climbing gets going.  After the climb, you'll find yourself in the town of Ramona, and your night's accommodations at Dos Picos Regional Park.  Phil's BBQ will provide dinner this night to help you refuel and get ready for the next day!

Day 3 (Sunday 10/11) - Dos Picos to S. Carlsbad State Beach - 39 miles
Leaving Ramona will mean a great (and well-deserved) ride DOWNHILL!  You'll ride through beautiful landscapes and neighborhoods on your way down to the coast.  Tonight you'll be staying at the South Carlsbad State Beach, and having tacos for dinner!  This is sure to be a memorable evening camping at the beach after another great day of riding!

Day 4 (Monday 10/12) - S. Carlsbad State Beach to Plaza de Panama/Panama 66 - 32 miles
You may already have this day off from work because it is Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day, depending on where you're from.  Regardless of what you call it, it will be a beautiful day of riding down the Southern California Coast!  You'll pass through the Torrey Pines State Reserve on your way through La Jolla, finishing the ride at the iconic Plaza de Panama in Balboa Park.  Dinner and drinks will be served at Panama 66, a wonderful, bike-friendly location and host of our end of the ride celebration!

More ride details - Riders are expected to repair flats and handle basic maintenance on their own. We will be hosting a workshop before the ride to teach you how if you don't already know. A support vehicle will be available in the event of an emergency, as well as to transport your gear to each evening's campground (see below).
EATING
Each morning riders will be greeted with a delicious, filling breakfast to take them through the day.  Each evening, a meal will be prepared that will feature local produce and be paired with local beer or wine. Lunches and snacks are each rider's responsibility.  We are striving to use as many locally produced goods as possible including San Diego area roasted coffee, farm produce, and wine and beer.  Phil's BBQ, City Tacos, Modern Times Beer, and Gold Coast Mead are among the purveyors involved in the ride! Please see the Sponsors page for more details.

SLEEPING
Each night riders camp out at a campground that will have bathrooms and showers available.  Campsites may be shared with other riders.  Riders must provide their own camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad.  If you don't own your own camping gear, you can rent gear at one of the three REI locations in San Diego County, or at Adventure 16 in San Diego or Solana Beach.

OTHER DETAILS
Each rider may pack ONE duffel bag with all their belongings (including all camping gear, clothing, toiletries, camp shoes, and everything else!) that will be transported each day to that evening's location.  Riders are encouraged to carry a small bag of repair gear, water, snacks and money with them on their bikes.  Helmets are highly encouraged given various safety hazards that exist.

A portion of the proceeds raised by this ride will support the work of BikeSD, working to make San Diego the most bicycle friendly city in the world.
